Baconsthorpe Castle Norfolk is stunning. The kids love running around and reading the signs and seeing the old buildings. We make a thing to shout everyone in our family over and take it in turns to read the sings. My 4 year old has a go by telling us about the pictures on the signs. So cute!
We went when the weather was getting a bit colder but in the summer months we would love having a picnic here. Baconthorpe Castle is looked after by the English Heritage and it’s free entry with free parking next to it.
Baconsthorpe Castle is a moated and fortified 15th century manor house, that’s a testament to the rise and fall of a prominent Norfolk family, the Heydons. Over 200 years, successive generations of this ambitious family built, then enlarged, and finally abandoned this castle.
